Jock remembers in his younger years, visits to a family friend's farm where they would use a Chev four to tow a trailer when they were carting hay bales.
After seeing how the old Chev handled the work he always had a passion for them.
The other reason for a Chev came from his dad. "In my lifetime, Dad only ever owned three cars" Jock said "and they were all Chevs".
Ironically, if Jock's father was alive today he'd be exactly the same age as the Chev four, making it all the more special for Jock.
This car is a 1927 Chevrolet Capitol.
It's a five seater tourer and runs a four cylinder side valve engine hence the common name of Chev four.
There's no front brakes, only rear and there's an unusual pedal set up for the driver with a foot operated starter button, a normal clutch pedal but the throttle and brake pedals are reversed.
This can can be a bit tricky for the novice driver but Jock seems to have got a good grasp on things already and loves driving the 91 year old tourer.
So too does Mick, his 18 month old cattle dog pup, who couldn't resist the opportunity to climb on board for a photo.
Jock had been searching for a while for a Chev when his daughter came across this one for sale in Queensland.
It had been in the one family for most of its life having originally been sold by Metropolitan Motors Ltd in Adelaide St, Brisbane.
"It's had a lick of paint a number of years ago" said Jock "and has had new upholstery and roof fitted so it looks good from a distance, but on closer inspection I've got a bit of work to do to tidy it up".
“It was running pretty rough when I first got it home" Jock said "but with a bit of tinkering I've got it running well now".
And after owning it for only a few months, Jock has had the Chev out on a couple of club outings already.
His favourite reason for buying the Chev though, is to take his grandchildren for drives in it.
"It's something that they otherwise would probably never experience" Jock said "and if Mick moves over they can all enjoy it together".
