The Lagoon driver guided Navua Girl ($3.40) to success for his father-trainer Steve Turnbull before steering both Relapse ($2.40 favourite) and Multi Score ($6.60) to victory for his brother Josh Turnbull.
Relapse is a daughter of Lombo Pocket Watch, the famous grey colt who won 19 races in a row early in his career before going on to amass more than $1.5 million in prize money.
The now three-year-old filly joined Josh Turnbull’s team earlier this season, with Saturday’s race the fifth for the trainer.
In what was to be her first career win, she began well in her 2,040 metres contest from barrier two and after a short battle for the lead with Mammals Destiny, crossed to take front spot.
In the final sprint home she held off a late surge from Mammals Destiny ($20.60) to win by a half neck in a 2:05.8 mile rate. Third, a further 5m back, was Flash In Sam ($11.30).
