Parkes Shire Council General Manager, Mr Kent Boyd has been named in this year's Queen Birthday Honour's list.

Mr Boyd received a Public Service Medal.
The Public Service Medal recognises outstanding service by employees of the Australian Government and state, territory and local government through:
• Service excellence to the public, or to external or internal clients;
• Innovation in programme, project or policy development;
• Leadership, including as a member of a team; or
• Achievement of more efficient processes, improved productivity or better service delivery.
Mr Boyd commenced his service at Narromine Shire Council in 1982 where he developed an understanding and passion for Local Government.
He then moved onto roles at Warringah Shire Council before starting at Parkes Shire Council in 1992.
Mr Boyd became Parkes Shire Council’s General Manager in 2010.
Parkes Shire Mayor Cr Ken Keith OAM congratulated Mr Boyd on his achievements on behalf of the community, Council and himself.
“Kent has served the community energetically over the last 40 years and exudes all of the qualities that the Public Service Medal represents,” the Mayor said.
“His expertise in engineering, project management and his personal leadership qualities have made him an outstanding General Manager.
“Since Kent started in the role as Parkes Shire Council General Manager, our organisation has received significant recognition, including awards for excellence in local government, engineering and for excellence in communication.
“These awards recognise and acknowledge the Council's progressive leadership of which Kent is a driving force.”
Additionally, Mr Boyd is a member of the Central New South Wales Regional Organisation of Councils and has played an integral role in the success of the NSW Local Government Water Industry.
“He has also served on the boards of many community groups where his knowledge, guidance and dedication are key to strong management and productivity,” the Mayor said.
“Kent has proven to be an exceptional General Manager, making a significant impact to the region, particularly to the community of the Parkes Shire.”
