Emergency services were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision on the corner of Albert and Gap Streets at 9.20am.
The driver of a red Nissan Patrol, travelling north on Albert Street, failed to give way and ran into a white Hyundai Elantra travelling west on Gap Street.
The driver of the Patrol, a 52-year-old Parkes man, failed to stop and render assistance, and exchange details.
Police located the man and his uninjured passenger, a 24-year-old Parkes man, a short time later in Mitchell Street.
He was still seated behind the wheel and claimed to be suffering from chest injuries.
He was taken to Parkes Hospital.
The driver of the Elantra, a 43-year-old Parkes man, was extracted from the vehicle and taken to Parkes Hospital with hip injuries before being transported to Orange Hospital.
His passenger, a 38-year-old Parkes woman, was uninjured.
Both drivers were given mandatory blood tests and inquiries are continuing.

As a result of investigations into an assault at a local hotel last month, Parkes Police have made an arrest.
Shorty after 10.30pm on Wednesday, April 25, a 25-year-old male from San Remo was assaulted resulting in wounds to his face and neck.
He was taken to Parkes Hospital for treatment.
Last Friday, police arrested a 21-year-old Parkes woman and charged her with reckless wounding.
She was granted bail to appear in Parkes Local Court on Monday, July 2.

A 31-year-old Parkes man will face court on a drug charge after being stopped by police on the Forbes Road at 4pm on Friday.
The man was found to be in possession of what police will allege to be two grams of cannabis.
He was charged with possessing a prohibited drug and breaching his bail.
He will appear in Parkes Local Court on Monday, July 2.

A 42-year-old Parkes man will face court after being caught drink driving on Friday.
Police stopped the man in Close Street at 8.40pm.
He failed a roadside breath test, was arrested and taken to Parkes Police Station for a breath analysis which returned a reading of 0.144.
He was charged with mid range PCA to appear in Parkes Local Court on Monday, June 4.
