Land Services Officer, Catie Guise said that workshops such as these have been held across the region for the past two years and have resulted in both positive feedback and requests for more workshops
“This round of workshops has, and will continue to help landholders make informed decisions about their property and gain a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities” Catie said.
The workshop will cover topics such as stock health, biosecurity risks, domestic and feral animal control, rural crime prevention and weed control.
Presenters will be available to discuss management practices and obligations with attendees.
“Past attendees found that having a chat to our staff and partners has greatly assisted with on-farm management,” Catie said.
The following morning, attendees and the broader community are also invited to join Central West Local Land Services staff and environmental enthusiast Mikla Lewis on a vegetation identification walk on the Wellington Road Travelling Stock Route (TSR) five kms from Parkes.
This reserve contains environmental features and assets including Box-Gum Grassy Woodland (an Endangered Ecological Community) and lines the road corridor along the Renshaw McGirr Way heading to Wellington.
Box Gum Grassy Woodlands have reduced in area and become highly fragmented over time due to clearing for urban development and infrastructure.
Reserves such as this are often the last remaining examples of common woodlands, grasslands, and shrublands and contain important wildlife habitat such as mature hollow trees and understory plants.
