They’ve managed to raise more than $10,000, an ultimate goal they set for themselves in their mission to create awareness of ovarian cancer and support the vital research for a cure.
The couple set out at the beginning of February – Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month – to raise as many funds and as much awareness as possible.
By March 5 Joel and Talan – calling themselves Team Breaden – had raised $6400 for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
With that figure came the agreement they would have their heads shaved with clippers to a number zero at Adele’s Salon and Skin Clinic.
They also agreed in a skin shave with a razor if they reached their ultimate goal.
On April 13 Team Breaden announced they had raised $10,075.81.
Joel and Talan will return to Adele’s Salon tomorrow at 5.30pm for the head skin shave.
It’s all in memory and honour of one very special woman, their mother and mother-in-law, and former Parkes Public School principal, Leanne Breaden who lost her 13-month battle with ovarian cancer on Christmas Eve last year.
Adele Hawke herself has been supporting the cause, as have Parkes’ primary schools and Parkes High School who’ve been hosting fundraisers and donating the money to Team Breaden over the last few months.
Make sure you tune in to our Facebook page tomorrow at 5.30pm – we plan to cover the head shave live.
