This year the 59 artworks entered make a colourful, engaging exhibition.
The Waste to Art exhibition provides a creative outlet for aspiring and professional artists in the Parkes Shire.
Manager Cultural, Education and Library Services Shellie Buckle said Waste to Art time is important to her, not only because of the creativity it brings to the library, but also the waste reduction messages shared.
“This year’s exhibition features some stunning artworks created from what could have ended up in landfill,” Shellie said.
“Many of the entries from primary and high school students have been inspired by the annual theme year of polystyrene.”
Councillor Bill Jayet announced the winners last Thursday evening, April 12.

The competition judges, Sally Chapman and Michael Chambers found the task of selecting winners thought-provoking and difficult.
“The works were of high quality and very imaginative, addressing the theme very well. It is great to see so many thinking about waste,” Sally and Michael said.
It is a competition that demonstrates creativity and shares some wonderful ideas on how to reduce, reuse and recycle! Come along to Parkes Library to see for yourself.
The exhibition is open at Parkes Library until April 24.
The winners of the Parkes local exhibition go onto the regional competition and exhibition which is being hosted in Narromine, opening June 23.
