The 2018 Trundle Showgirl Competition was held on Saturday and featured three highly commendable entrants in both of this year’s junior and senior competitions.

The judges were Emily Ryan (2017 National Rural Ambassador runner-up), Camilla Herbig (2016 Sydney Royal Showgirl state finalist), and Roger Hood (former President of the Parkes PA&H Association).
Entrants in the junior competition were Holly Thomlinson, Lucy Aveyard, and Jessica Jones.
The judges were very impressed with the caliber of entrants in the competition, and warmly encouraged all of the ladies to continue to be involved in their local Trundle community.
Lucy was announced as the 2018 Trundle Junior Showgirl at a special morning tea at The Staging Post.
Lucy (16), the daughter of Alex and Boyd Aveyard, is currently in Year 10 at Kinross Wolaroi School in Orange. Her hobbies include cooking, cricket, hockey, art, commerce and partaking in the school’s Cadets program.
She also enjoys helping her mother and father with farm work.
In the past Lucy has assisted in both the vegetable and sheep sections of the Trundle Show.
Courtesy of the competition’s generous sponsors, Lucy took home a prize package valued at over $500 in cash and prizes.
Entrants in the senior competition were Eliza Kelly, Isabelle Wykes, and Ashleigh Farrar.
The ladies were judged on personality, confidence, ambition and life goals, general knowledge, rural knowledge, community involvement, presentation and speech.
The ladies are all wonderful ambassadors for the Trundle community and are to be commended on all of their many achievements to date.
Eliza was announced as the 2018 Trundle Senior Showgirl at a luncheon held in a marquee on the grounds of the Trundle Golf Course.
The event was well attended by 65 community members, who were treated to a four course meal by the Dish Café and were entertained by talented local artist Isabelle Wykes.
Eliza (19) is the daughter of Jenny and Peter Kelly. She has recently returned from Africa where she was living for six months as a short-term missionary with SIM (Serving in Mission).
Eliza holds a Certificate II in Agriculture with Traineeship, Holistic Management and Diploma in Agriculture. Her hobbies include making things, music, reading, being outdoors and growing fresh produce.
Eliza has been involved in a number of Trundle community organisations including the Trundle Football Club, Trundle CWA, and the Trundle Show Society. She has also volunteered her services at Anzac Day, Australia Day, Bush Tucker Day and the Trundle ABBA Festival.
Courtesy of the competition’s generous sponsors, Eliza took home a prize package valued at over $1000 in cash and prizes. She was also provided with an all-expenses-paid Deportment Training weekend in Dubbo.
