I was unable to attend the recent Men's Health Evening, but I was particularly interested in discussions about Prostate disorders. I understand no mention was made of the preventative benefits of the herbal remedy Epilobium Tea.

The medical profession appears to ignore the value of Epilobium as a proven (anecdotal) preventative of prostate cancer.

Hilde Hemmes, a South Australian herbalist, discovered the potential of Epilobium as an aid in the treatment of prostate enlargement and cancer over 20 years ago, and her tea has been available since that time.

In 1996 Andrew Tobin wrote a book 'Prostate Disorder, causes and cure'.   The book dedication reads:    'In honour of a courageous woman.   This is the story of one extraordinary woman's chance discovery that has changed the lives of thousands of men in Australia and will change the lives of millions of men around the world.   It is a story of perseverance and commitment to the greater good.'

The book contains over 100 testimonials from Australian men to the benefit of using epilobium tea in the treatment of enlarged prostate and also prostate cancer.

Most of these testimonials remarked on the reduction in PSA readings and also the elimination of frequent toilet visits during the night.

Notable people who have benefited from the use of Epilobium tea over the years include Bob Jane, Pro Hart and Smokey Dawson.

I believe Epilobium Tea could be safely recommended as a treatment for all stages of prostate disorder.

March saw a number of major milestones and projects achieved. Troy Grant MP visited Parkes to officially open our new state-of-the-art water infrastructure renewal projects, including the Water and Sewage Treatment Plants, Lachlan Pump Station and Bore 8 refurbishment. These projects represent the largest capital works Council has ever undertaken and I thank the NSW Government for the significant contributions towards the projects. Over 500 community members took the opportunity to tour the new Parkes Water and Sewage Treatment Plants as part of the Community Open Day on March 24. 

While in town, Minister Grant also announced that the NSW Government has purchased land in Hill Street for the construction of a new Parkes Fire Station. And I was delighted to officially launch the new Parkes Shire Destination Guide out at the CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope in March. In March, Parkes welcomed over 200 councillors, council staff, and tourism operators to town for the 2018 Local Government NSW Tourism Conference. Delegates from across the state heard from industry experts and leaders in tourism across the three day conference held at the Parkes Leagues Club. Our region’s most recognised tourism attraction was the centrepiece for the official conference dinner held at the CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope on the Wednesday evening – certainly a highlight for those in attendance. Congratulations to the Tullamore Irish Music Festival Committee and the Tullamore community for delivering another successful festival over Easter.

Heading into April, Council marked the completion of the Advanced Water Recycling Facility (AWRF), which underpins Parkes' new Recycled Water Scheme (RWS). Residents are invited to tour the facility on April 21 between 10am and 12pm, and participate in a community tree planting to rejuvenate the site. Tours will run every half hour starting from 10am. Cancer Council NSW is encouraging people across the region to host a morning tea and support those affected by cancer.

For 25 years, Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea has brought together millions of Australians over a cup of tea in support of those affected by cancer.

This May, Cancer Council is once again encouraging people across Australia to gather their friends, family or workmates for a cup of tea and a bite to eat whilst raising money to support Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and to help those affected by cancer.

In 2018, the official day to host a morning tea is Thursday, May 24, but anyone can host at any time in May or June. By hosting or attending an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, participants will help Cancer Council NSW continue our life-saving cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs.
