Healthy landscapes, people and communities were in focus on Friday night as Landcare celebrated at Forbes Town Hall.
An impressive line-up of speakers covering a broad range of topics took the stage at the “Fertile Ground” dinner.
They included 2014 Australian Rural Woman of the Year Pip Job, NSW Landcare CEO Dr Adrian Zammut, Central West Local Land Services chair Susan Madden and Deputy Prime Minister and Member for Riverina Michael McCormack.
Mrs Job shared some of her experiences and learnings from her years with Little River Landcare, and in her new role with the DPI’s Young Farmer program.
Forbes agronomist Guy Webb spoke about the birth of Soil C Quest and GirraGirra Green Living’s Wendy Muffet spoke about Grazing Down the Lachlan.
Dr Zammut, who is the first CEO of Landcare, says this is an exciting time for Landcare as it grows and matures.
The organisation started with a group of farmers in Australia 35 years ago and has been adopted all over the world.
