The Year 6 student came away from the state titles, held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre in Homebush on March 21, with not one but five medals.
Not a bad coup for a swimmer who has never competed at the NSWCPS carnival before.
Matty won a gold medal in the 50 metre Multi-Class backstroke and claimed silver in the 100 metre Multi-Class freestyle, 50 metre Multi-Class breastroke, 50 metre Multi-Class freestyle and 50 metre Multi-Class butterfly.
Holy Family Primary School principal Denise Gersbach was able to confirm it was the first time anyone from the school had won five medals at this event.
“We have had students medal previously but not this many,” Ms Gersbach said.
Matty has worked very hard on his swimming over the past couple of years and is now seeing the results for his efforts.

The school has also had multi-class swimmers represent Parkes previously, naming Hamish Neville who had competed in recent years.
“It felt amazing,” Matty said, describing what it was like to compete at state level.
“I was so excited to swim at the Olympic pool.”
Ms Gersbach described Matty’s performance in the pool as outstanding.
He’s now earned himself a spot in the Polding Swimming Team that will compete at the NSW Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) Swimming Championship on April 11-12.
This will also be his first time competing at this event.
Ms Gersbach is thrilled with Matty’s achievements.
“Matty has worked very hard on his swimming over the past couple of years and is now seeing the results for his efforts,” she said.
“We are all very proud of Matty here at Holy Family.”
Matty is the son of Chris and Sharon Scott.
He has been a member of the Parkes Swimming Club for the past three years.
Matty said his favourite event was freestyle.
"I love competing in freestyle,” he said.
“I love that swimming makes me really fit.”
Parkes woman and long-serving volunteer Barbara Weaver is Matty's coach.
Ms Gersbach said she has been most encouraging of his progress in swimming.
