Last weekend we saw nine shooters attend the Deep Lead shooting complex. They shot at ordinary targets at both 25 and 50 meters. Ranges for a collective score of 500 points. This match was shot under near perfect conditions but with a heat haze at the 50 meters range.
Target Rifles
- Craig Gibson 250, 249, 499
- Brian Drabsch 250, 248, 498
- John Davis, 250, 244, 494
- Bernie Shaw 247, 241, 488
- Basyl Rukdenko 250 for 25 meter only.
Field Rifles
- John Smeaton 249, 226, 475

Two shot for practice only to make up their four shoots before March 31. If you don’t get your four shoots up the firearms registry can ask you why you didn’t and can cancel your licence without a good excuse. Work commitments or illness have to be accompanied way a signed letter from your boss or doctor for all 52 weeks so good luck. Our next shot will be at 1pm Sunday, March 11. Again it will be ordinary targets at both ranges.
Bridge
We had eight and a half tables on Thursday, March 1. For the uninitiated, a half table means that one pair of players each round has to 'sit out' and not take part.
Our Railway Bowling Club friends used to call it the naughty corner! On the north south side the Blatch family, Warren and Nancye came top with a good score of 61.49. Warren likes to take risks with his bidding and sometimes it pays off. Well done!
Second were Ingrid Stephenson and Kevin Robinson 54.76 followed by Beryl Twardy and Peter Quin 52.72 and Jenny Freeman and Jan Latter 47.28. On the east west side our visitor from the central coast, Robyn Vaughan partnered by Peter Dearden came first with a score of 58.84.
We had to drag Peter out of his vineyard at the last minute to replace Robyn's husband Ed who had been put in hospital that morning.
It was Peter's first win at the bridge table. In second place were Beth Thomas and Suzie McNamara 54.63 followed by Greig Ball and Keith Fiedler 53.87 and Vicki Burke and Dawn Phipps 51.06.
Winners on Saturday 3 March were Greig Ball and Keith Fiedler with a whopping 77 per cent score.!! Joan Reilly and Margaret Hawken were second with 51 and in third place were Barbara Magill and Val Boyd 47.
Monday night's winners were Gary Somers and Greig Ball 62.5. In second place were Keith Fiedler and visitor Denise Skinn 59.38. Denise and her husband are 'Grey nomads' travelling around Australia. In third place were Jen Calvert and Dawn Phipps 51.04.
Winners on Tuesday, March 6 were Ingrid Stephenson and Jenny Freeman 56.55. Second were Beth Symington and Marlene Freeman 53.97 only just ahead of Joan Reilly and Warren Blatch 53.57. In fourth place were Val Boyd and Jan Latter 52.78.
