SENIOR TENNIS
The first round of the night comp last Tuesday. The Bush Pigs were welcomed back to the courts and led by Jayden Hudson enjoyed a hard fought win over Full of Excuses. Jayden kept his unbeaten run on the Parkes courts with a 6/3 win over Andrew Rice while Andrew Skinner and Helen Standen had a beaut singles match on Line two. Helen just got the better of the very fit looking Skinner 6/4.
Jenna Gissane and Virginia Rice had a lovely match played in a casual spirit but both ladies covering the court well and certainly extending their fitbit step calculations. Well done to Jenna for her first up win 6/4. The Bush Pigs finished with a four sets to two victory.
Westy’s Warriors and the Bogan Gate Bandits took to the court and all eyes were on the Bandits as the pre-match form looked okay but the nerves took over and their younger opponents settled in to make a few more balls back into play in their singles sets.
Andrew McPherson started slow for the Bandits but rallied to come over the top of Hayden Westcott scoring a 6/3 win.
Young guns Joe Tanswell and Gabe Goodrick showed their style against Ben Rix and Wendy Rix winning both sets. Ben teamed up with Andrew and they were pretty happy with their final set which saw them score a close 6/5 win over Hayden and Joe. Westy’s Warriors scoring a four sets to two win.
Some competitive sets in the match between Mixed Lollies and The Questionables but Mixed Lollies went on to win five of the six sets. Paul Dunford and Julian Fyfe opened proceedings with a tough battle. Lefty Paul used all his guile to overcome Julian in the end 6/5.
Welcome to Pat Schnelle who joined The Questionables and Parkes Tennis and we hope Pat enjoys his time in Parkes at the Shire Council. Pat played Matt Burkitt and Matt enjoyed the rallies to cruise to a 6/4 win while great to see Courtney Rousell back playing tennis after a few years away from the game.
Courtney has a mean forehand and when she finds her range will be potent. She came up against Kayla Swetland who also looked a little rusty but after a couple of weeks will surely be back into her usual consistent form.
Thunder produced the goods last week to open their account against Aces. Jake Thompson led his boys Toby Tanks and Duncan Neville to a classy 6 set win over Aces.
Brenden Weekes doesn’t pick up a racquet too often these days and it showed early but he’ll bounce back in the coming weeks while nice to see Alex Jones and Chloe McCarthy joining in comp tennis and enjoying their night.
Dream team proved too strong for Mrs Browns Tennis Boys with a five set to one win. Christian Martin filled in for Dream team which saw Darren Fisher drop down to Line two.
With Siala Ah Mu an ever improving Line three they looked and proved a formidable combination. Jonty Ralph salvaged a set for MBTB which was good to see. Good to have teammates Corey Rowbotham and Jake Ryan back on court again as well.
New combination GAMA including Gary Morgan, Andrew Hayne, Abbey Kennedy and Maddy McCormick scored a four sets to two win over Young Guns.
Andrew took on Mark Ritchie and Mark steady as always taught Drew a thing or two about strategy in his 6/2 win. Abbey then defeated Adam Jones who was right at home on the front courts enjoying a chat. Maddy McCormick will be the ace on Line three and has been working on her power game which showed against Sheridan Kirk last week.
The Dirty Daws team of Ben Evans, Lachy Tassell and Harry Dawson defeated No Strings Attached five sets to one but the latter team failed to fill out their scoresheet so no report is available on their sets. Aces team have the BYE tonight.
