Owners Tracy and Greg Kearney are celebrating 10 years of ownership on Friday, February 23.
The couple have a great day of celebrations planned for the bakery.
“The highlight will be a pie eating competition at 10am,” Greg said.
Entry is free and as easy as calling into the bakery to put your name down.
“It’s not about how many pies the contestants can eat,” he said.
“The person who can gobble down two plain pies in the fastest time will progress to the next round and at the end of all rounds we will have a winner.”
Dooley Thomson, who will be acting as MC, is sure to make it a memorable occasion.
Tracy said they have also organised lucky door prizes and a prize wheel for the party.
“The Petey Pie mascot will make an appearance and of course there will be plenty of birthday cake,” she said.
Johnson’s Bakery has had only three local owners since it was established in 1933 and Tracey and Greg are proud to keep it that way.
A baker by trade, Greg has worked in the industry for 23 years and Tracy is now a qualified pastry cook.
“We work hard and are proud to bring the best quality products to our customers,” Tracy said.
“We’ve had the shop renovated over the last 18 months and it’s looking nice and fresh with new flooring, new lighting and a fresh coat of paint.”
The couple would like to thank their family and friends, their staff of six, Bec and Dooley Thomson from St Flo Designs and especially the community of Parkes for all their support.
