In total during the carnival Maddy bowled 12 overs, 4 maidens, 1 wicket for 25 overs.
She was able to enjoy splendid team spirit with her fellow NSW team mates.
Maddy will now aim to gain selection in the 2018/19 NSW PSSA Girls team that will participate in the School Sports Australia National Championships to be played in Bunbury Western Australia in December 2018.
Maddy’s mum Kerry said Maddy also attended a four-day training camp held at the Raby Sports Complex at Campbelltown from December 27.
“All the girls were put through their paces and they also played a trial game against the invitational team,” she said.
On the last day of the training camp the girls were presented their Baggy Blue cap by Hannah Trethewy who plays for the Sydney Thunder.
Maddy was very surprised to learn that Mr Glenn Pepper (Parkes school teacher) was elected to umpire at the Carnival. He also drew the job of umpiring the match against A.C.T at Berrigan.
“Maddy making the NSW team was an awesome effort, but we were then surprised to hear that young Ruby Smith of South Australia was selected in the South Australian team,” Kerry said.
Maddy’s dad Justin and Ruby’s step dad Andrew have worked together since 2004.
The Spence Family would like to say a huge thank you to MCA Group, The Star Hotel, Cooke Park Café, BP Orange Road, Parkes Services Club, staff and students of Middleton Public School, Parkes District Junior Cricket Association as well as the Champion Post for all their continued support.
