The announcement comes amid planning for the January 26 celebrations across the Shire, which will include activities in Parkes and the townships of Bogan Gate, Peak Hill, Trundle and Tullamore.
Parkes Shire Mayor, Cr Ken Keith OAM said he is looking forward to welcoming Ann to the Shire.
"We are honoured to have Ann attend our special Australia Day activities across the Shire, as well as present the Citizenship, Cultural and Sporting Awards during the official ceremonies."
"Australia Day is an opportunity for our community to come together in the spirit of friendship and harmony, showcasing the unique and diverse culture that makes us Australian," the Mayor said.
“We look forward to hearing Ann’s story, which illustrates the many opportunities Australia has to offer.”
Australia Day Ambassadors are people who provide inspiration and pride to Australia Day events.
Ann Snell is a name synonymous in the Australia art scene, as the Managing Director of the Ann Snell Gallery in Surry Hills, as well as and art educator and advocate for cross-cultural art collaborations.
“A primary motivation for working with Aboriginal Art is giving my clients access to Aboriginal philosophy and culture via beautiful paintings. Art is a great vehicle for healing and learning,” Ann said.
Ann first became an Australia Day Ambassador in 2009.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to join any of the celebrations held across the Parkes Shire.
