At the recent CWCC Christmas party, Rodney Barnes (Club President) presented Pat Bailey from Can Assist with a cheque totalling $10,934.
In addition a second cheque for $3318 was presented to Can Assist as the proceeds from their catering with the assistance of CWCC at the recent clearing sale of a club member, bringing the grand total to $14,252. Pat offered her sincere gratitude to the club. “Our funds are used for local cancer sufferers and their families and we really appreciate every donation we receive” Pat said.
“The car show day was a huge success with Pioneer Oval once again proving to be a great venue and as usual looking a picture” Rodney said. “Once again we would like to thank our major sponsor Parkes Tyrepower and Mechanical , associate sponsors Shannon’s Insurance and Parkes Antique Motor Club and of course all our other sponsors – mostly local businesses who always offer tremendous support. Without them we could not make such a generous donation to Can Assist”.
For those interested, there were 169 entries at the show. The list of awards is endless but just a few of the major trophies went to Grant and Susan Kelly’s Ned Kelly themed EH panelvan for People’s Choice; Grant Rosser’s 1976 Torana for Car of Show and George Pratt’s 2003 Triumph Bonneville for Bike of Show. Sponsor’s choice awards went to Bruce McQuillan for his green XY Ford ute, John Zelukovic’s 1961 Studebaker coupe and Ken Rawlings’ blue 1970 Holden Premier.
