The Christmas Muster will be held on Saturday, December 16, commencing at 7.30pm in the Starlight Lounge of the Parkes Services Club. An extra special guest (Santa) will be the features of the night making an appearance around 8.30pm so make sure you bring the kids/grandkids along to the Muster. Annual General Meeting – after President Robert read his Annual Report all positions were declared vacant and elections for Office Bearers of the Parkes & District Country Music Assoc. Inc were held.
Robert Charlton was re-elected President; newcomer to the Assoc. Greg Magnus elected Senior Vice-President; youngster Josh Finn Junior Vice-President. Lyn Pengilly was elected Secretary with Margaret Thurn standing in as Assistant Secretary to help teach Lyn the ropes. Frances Charlton was re-elected Treasurer with a yet to be elected Assistant Treasurer. Robert Charlton – Public Officer; Publicity Committee – Lindy Charlton, Christine Cox and Robert Charlton with Publicity Officer position remaining vacant.
Co-ordinators are Christine Cox, Lyn Pengilly, Margaret Cowell, Sue Crowley and Dot Cole.
Fundraising committee – Frances Charlton, Lynn Dunn, Dot Cole, Lyn Pengilly, Chris De Dobbelaar and Marg Thurn.
Patrons – Jacquie Sullivan, Ian Chambers, Gail Thorne and Ken Keith. A good strong committee to take us into 2018.
As there have been no interested parties forthcoming and no plans for a 2018 Festival Activity for the October long weekend there was no Festival Sub-Committee elected.
November Muster – featured artists at our November Muster were Anne Penman, Bill Murray and Craig Manderson. Anne is well known to us being a member and regular performer at our functions travelling up from Lyndhurst. She has recently made a CD album with the Lindsay Butler Studios and as a result is not on the LBS label with her songs released to radio and getting plenty of air play. She and Bill Murray now travel the festival circuit performing their music.
Bill is a singer/songwriter with recorded material also with LBS label.
Craig Manderson is a well known and regular visitor to Parkes and is the President of the Orana C.M.A. in Dubbo.
These guests along with Gary Hollier (Dubbo), Sue Smith and Jayson Patrick O’Brien (Wellington), Dawn Bryden (Narromine), Greg Magnus (Parkes), Ken Chalker (Cowra) and Sarah, Hayley, Caleah and their dad Robert Charlton and Josh Finn of Peakhill combined to make a great afternoons entertainment. Thanks also to our great backing band Gary Hollier, Brian Collits, Pam Byrne and Rob Charlton.
Two new members Greg Magnus and Sue Crowley have joined our ranks and already taken on active roles. Over 40 members have already renewed their membership and those who haven’t yet can catch up with Treasurer Frances at our Christmas Charity Muster.
Upcoming Activities – hopefully our proposed 2018 Calendar will be ready by the Christmas Muster. As usual we try to book Saturday evenings around the 3rd weekend of the month to fit in with other surrounding CMA club functions, and when booking dates with our own Services Club we have to also fit in around visiting events, weddings etc.
Our ‘Welcome to Elvis’ Muster at the Parkes Showground is booked for 7th January so make sure you put that in your diaries. As well as monthly musters, Mother’s Day Muster booked for Sunday 13th May and the next Peak Hill Muster for Sunday 1st July. President Rob also has plans for another Karaoke night for March.
