The Scott and Kath Mann Cleaning Monthly Medal was re-scheduled to last Saturday, combining with the Bill Burke Trophy day.
Featuring 61 starters, it was C Grade’s Richard Hamilton who lit up the course with a blistering 82 scratch for a nett 63 to claim the double.
His score was that good it would have been enough to win the B Grade double, and there is a good chance he will be competing in that grade next month.
The B Grade double was taken out impressively by Richard Hutchison who shot 83 off the stick for a nett 68.
Rob Hey claimed the A grade scratch award with 77 while Mick Kable took out the handicap with 72 nett.
Hey was in good form, winning two of the nearest the pins.
He took out the Griffins Leading Edge 4th hole at 1500cm and the Westlime 15th hole at 247cm.
Other winners saw Richard Hamilton begin well as his tee shot on the IdleRite-Tyrepower 1st finished only 156cm from the flag.
On the Dirt Doctor Landscaping 6th hole, Riall Harrison hit a good shot to putt for birdie from 420cm.
Mark Kelly finished closest on the Harvey Norman 11th hole, also winning the money hole prize, with his tee shot finishing 281cm from the hole.
In the nearest-in-two shot Parkes Readymixed Concrete 9th hole, Denis Howard converted a good second shot for a rare birdie, putting from 92cm away.
In the Griffins leading Edge putting competition, Marty Woods claimed the prize after only needing the putter 26 times.
Woods was helped out by two chip ins on the back nine.
He chipped in on both the 14th and 17th holes.
With Hamilton winning the C Grade awards, his 44 points were ineligible for the Bill Burke Trophy which went to the next best stableford score.
That saw John Pearce on 40 points take out the event.
Ball winners included Ken Keith and Luke Greenwood both with 39, Liz Matthews, Lindsay Elliott and Ray Maxwell all with 38, Victor Gaidzionis and Lyn Davison with 37, and Rod Luyt with 36 on a countback.
JACK BURCH 4BBB
The final of the Jack Burch 4BBB Championship was played last Friday with favourites Tim Burke and Warren Blatch squaring off against Phil Barnard and Denis Howard.
Burke and Blatch were in a strong position, 2 up after the 14th hole and looking solid.
Wins on the 15th and 17th holes for Barnard and Howard saw the combatants head up the 18th fairway all square.
A two putt par for Barnard was good enough for his side to claim the 2017 title.
