On a lot of those ends Pat’s team were holding shots only to see one of the opposition move the jack. After fourteen ends Mike’s team led 21-4. The scores were even over the last seven ends but Mike’s team claimed the 2017 Mixed Fours Championship with a great win 27-10. Congratulations to all involved.
On Tuesday morning a Semi- Final of the Mixed Pairs Championship was played. Graham Barby and Margaret Hawken were up against Mike and Rhona Went and the scores were fairly even over the early ends. After ten ends were locked at seven all, but Mike and Rhona seemed to gain the upper hand winning the next three ends to lead 13-7.
Graham and Margaret staged a come-back and with four ends to play had reduced the margin to one shot, 13-12. However, Mike and Rhona won the last four ends to advance to the Final with a win, 18-12.
On Thursday, Dave Johnson and Gladrin Sun took on Mark Dwyer and Peter McPhee in a Handicap Pairs match. With the help of a five shot handicap advantage, Dave and Gladrin were able to keep pace with Mark and Peter and after eighteen ends the scores were locked at 13 all.
The nineteenth end was won by Mark and Peter, with a score of three shots- the highest winning margin of the match and they also won the last two ends to run out winners, 18-13.
Social Bowls November 30: Twenty-five bowlers turning out John Taylor volunteered to play both lead and second in a Triples match and five games of Pairs were also played. John Carr and Gordon Dickson started well against Les Kent and Greg Huggins and led 7-1 after four ends. By the thirteenth end, Les and Greg had levelled the scores at 12 all and continued playing some great bowls to hold the lead and narrowly win the match 20-18.
Playing his last match as a club member, Dave Buggie teamed with Bruce Deland to take on Gary McPhee and Martin Tighe. Both teams started well and after ten ends the scores were level, ten all. Dave and Bruce then started to build a lead and by the eighteenth end were ahead by seven shots, the biggest lead of the match. Gary and Martin won two of the last three ends but could not bridge the gap and Dave and Bruce claimed the match 22-18. Dave has had a transfer in his job and we all wish him and his family well in their new life at Batemans Bay.
In other matches: Geoff Freeman and Bill Skinner had a narrow win against Warren Bevan and Jim Blake, 19-15. Keith MacRae and Ray Jones defeated John Ward and Graham Barby, 19-13. In the Triples match John Dunn and John Taylor (playing lead and second) were too good for Rob Irving, Bob Freeman and John Watson, 22-13. Col Hayward and George Bradley had a convincing win against Arthur Corbett and Joe Crowley. The Prize winners on the day were Dave Buggie and Bruce Deland and the Runners-up prize went to Les Kent and Greg Huggins.
December 2: Bowlers, like most sensible people, stayed home on this very wet and windy day.

In the drawn match between Toyota Turtles and Loopy Loppers two, each team scored a two on one end but the rest of the ends were decided by one shot and the match ended in a seven all draw. Loopy Loppers 1 had a narrow win over Happy Wanderers when Happy Wanderers scored three shots on the last end but went down 10-9. Pink returned to the winners list with a narrow 16-14 win over Rebelle. In the “Manly” versus “Souths” clash Central West Glass proved too strong for Bowls Bros. winning 14-11.
