The Central West Group Apprentice Ltd is a public company which offers trades people the benefit of leasing an apprentice for any length of time up to the full term of the apprenticeship. The scheme started in 1980 and has grown from over 22 apprentices in 1982 to over 600 at the present time. An average yearly intake of 120 first year apprentices covering over 40 trades and approximately 100 graduating annually as qualified trades people.

Parkes Council has an ongoing battle against vandalism. Irrigation systems within the town's parks suffer thousands of dollars of damage. Broken and vandalised sprinklers have to be fixed or replaced. All 21 sprinklers serving the surrounds of the skate park, while 16 plants and shrubs were pulled out along with an irrigation hose in an attack on Cooke Park. Sprinklers had to be replaced at Kelly Reserve. The special Liberty Swing for disabled people has been replaced.
