Celebrating 50 years since Elvis' sensational TV appearance in the '68 Comeback Special in 2018, Parkes Elvis Festival is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever.
With only five months to go, Parkes accommodation providers are already booked to capacity with the Festival receiving an unprecedented volume of enquiries for alternative options.
Accommodation is now in high demand, and locals are being called upon to help meet this need through the Home Hosting Program. Festival Director Cathy Treasure said "Accommodation is the biggest challenge as the event continues to grow, so home hosting is a fantastic scheme to ensure all festival-goers can make their '68 Comeback to Parkes in 2018!"
"Home hosting is a great opportunity for Festival attendees to really grasp the positive community essence that Parkes is renowned for.
“It's also a wonderful opportunity for local homeowners to welcome visitors into their homes, showcase our region, contribute to the economic and social value of the event and build ongoing friendships for future Festivals."
Through the program, local home owners are able to rent out their spare bed, room, or whole house to visitors.
There are currently over 300 people on the waiting list with Ray White for Home Hosting accommodation.
Ray White's Home Hosting manager Gail Bartley urges home owners to register early,
“Fans attending the Festival want to secure their accommodation now. If we cannot confirm their beds by late September, they often cancel their plans to visit Parkes.
“This is disappointing for the fans and the Festival.
“We would love to be able to accommodate each and every enquiry.
“Registering early ensures we fill your home’s availability, and accommodate as many visitors as possible.”
Ray White's policies ensure that all homes have necessary contents insurance and are inspected for cleanliness, suitability and comfort.
For those with reservations about prospective tenants, Ray White works with home owners to match suitable tenants to relevant households. W
ith payment for Home Hosting debited into participants' account before Christmas, the program offers homeowners an incentive of a bit of extra cash to cover the expenses of the festive season.
