Great rollup on Sunday for the Parkes Services Social Golfers. Winner on the day was Ray Cabban with 41 points on a count-back. Runner up, all losing shots off their Handicaps were Michael Smith with 37 Points and Reg Davison with 36 points also on a count-back. Maybe Captain Chop may leave us alone if we gave him chocolates to sweeten him up a bit. Ladies Nearest the Pins 11th Hole went to Sue Smith with no other results recorded. Men’s Nearest the Pins first Phil Smith, 11th. Mick Smith and 15th Robert Rea. Lucky Card Draw and the Bunny Award went to Phil Smith. Raffle Winner was Mick Smith with balls going to Brian Hogan, Ross Smith and Len Archer. Next event will be a team Event with Trophies Supplied by Len Archer and Bill Warren with the Raffle supplied by Victor Giadzionis.
Bridge
On Sunday teams from Parkes competed in the Orange Bridge Congress. There were 27 teams competing. Present were players who had represented Australia in world events, competition was pretty tough.
One Parkes team however came home with a win as the best restricted team.They were Bill, Vicki, John Burke and Dawn Phipps. Congratulations.
Last Thursday’s winners for north south were Louise Payne and Peter Quin with 67.86 per cent. Second were Val Worthington and Elaine Nicholson who was having her first competitive game at the club.
They scored 50.93. Well done Elaine. Third went to Dawn Phipps and Vicki Burke 48.07. On the east west side Greig Ball and Anna Darwent topped with 60 per cent.
Anna is from England and is in Parkes visiting her daughter and son in law, Susie and Alan Blatch. Second were Keith Fiedler and Helen McQuie 57.25 followed by Margaret Hawken and John Quin 56.42. Close result on Monday night, a red points event. Keith Fiedler and Dawn Phipps with 61.71, just pipped Tim and Gai Baker 61.31. Anne Berkeley and Robyn Sheridan were third with 55.16 followed by Beryl Twardy and Rosemary Morris 52.98.
Tuesday’s winners were Keith Fiedler and Angus Glasson 65.62. Isabel Orange and Val Boyd were second with 57.29.
Third place were Margaret Hawken and Marlene Freeman 56.25. In fourth place were Val Worthington and Elaine Nicholson 51.04. Don’t forget to enter your team for our Muriel Waddell Memorial Trophy day August 20.
