Landcare Co-ordinator for CWLL, Marg Applebee said it was great to have some regulars there, as well as some new faces.

“We had a windy start to the day, but that didn’t deter participants,” Marg said. 

“Most people were of the opinion that the wind would bring rain, and it did!”

Volunteers planted over 200 trees in the picturesque setting, just off Danilenko Street, with fantastic views over town.

It is intended these plantings will provide a screen for residents from the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and extend the wildlife corridor through the area.

When the planting was complete, volunteers enjoyed a sausage sandwich and had a chance to catch up and reflect on what they had achieved.

“We are lucky to have so many people in our community who are committed to being involved in National Tree Day activities annually,” Marg said. 

“CWLL have been fortunate to have the support of Parkes Shire Council and Toyota to bring Tree Day together over many years.

“Our previous National Tree Day plantings are progressing well and we hope to see the same success at the Danilenko Street site in the years ahead.

“A big thank you to all of our Volunteers who make National Tree Day possible.

“It is wonderful to join with over 300,000 people who take part in the event all over Australia each year.”
