Northparkes Sports Grants now open

The Parkes Sports Council is calling for applications from incorporated sporting groups or educational institutions to apply for funding in the Northparkes Sports Grants.

In this round there is a total of $15,000 available for distribution to successful projects that promote participation in sport or improve sporting facilities.

Northparkes Mine and the Parkes Sports Council joined forces to provide financial assistance grants to sporting groups in the Parkes Shire.

Parkes Shire Sports Council Chair, Al Gersbach thanked Northparkes for its commitment to supporting grassroots sport in our community.

“This round of funding is the last in the five year agreement with Northparkes Mines, who committed to providing a total of $150,000 worth of funding to be distributed for sporting related projects,” Al said.

Parkes Sports Council, in administering the grants, aims to increase regular and ongoing participation opportunities in sport, and to improve the sporting infrastructure within the Parkes Shire.

Funding is split between two distinct project types:

  • Participation projects – that deliver a sport or physical activity participation experience to an identified group of people, and;
  • Facility development projects – building new or upgrading sport and recreation facilities to support increased participation.

Applications will close on Friday, June 30

For sporting clubs and organisations wanting to learn how to make a standout application, Council's Grants Officers will be hosting a workshop, providing one-on-one assistance.

The Northparkes Sports Grants Workshop will be held from 12.30pm - 1.30pm on Wednesday, June 21 at the Parkes Library.

“This is a great opportunity to refine your application under the guidance of experienced Grants Officers and hear from the Sports Council about what to include to make your application successful,” Al said.
