Parkes Police have charged a 20-year-old Parkes man with a range of offences resulting from an incident early on Saturday morning in the CBD.

The fracas involved a large number of people and started in the Welcome/Grenfell Street area before progressing up Welcome Street.
Police attempted to resolve the situation however the group turned on them and one officer was struck in the shoulder with a metal baseball bat, suffering minor injuries.
The group eventually dispersed.
After viewing CCTV footage police charged the man with a range of offences including affray and assault police in the execution of duty causing actual bodily harm.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in Parkes Local Court on April 3.
Investigations are continuing and it is anticipated more people will be charged in the coming days.
