The owner of the 2003 model Ford Falcon returned from shopping to see her car with all four doors open, smoke still streaming from it and police in attendance.
Early investigations indicate a short-circuit in the console was the cause.
No-one was injured in the incident and there was no need to evacuate the carpark.
While the vehicle will have to be inspected by insurance assessors it is expected to be written off.
After providing details to police the owner - a woman from Condobolin, informed them she would head off to have a coffee and a bit of a weep.
