Family and friends travelled from Sydney, Newcastle, Bathurst and Dubbo for the special unveiling by Mayor Ken Keith of 87 year-old Mardie’s third book.
The function room of the Coachman Hotel Motel was packed for the social occasion which also included a performance by Parkes acapella singing group Tapestry.
Mardie’s grandson Simon O’Donnell MCd the official proceedings.
Following the launch, all present were treated to a delicious afternoon-tea where Mardie was kept busy autographing copies of the book for eager buyers.
250 editions of the book are part of the initial print-run and going by the enthusiastic response at the launch those eager to secure a copy should get in quickly.
The book retails for $28 and anyone wanting a copy should contact Mardie on 6862 3448.
A Chain of Dreams is Mardie’s first attempt at fiction having previously written the autobiographical With a Song in My Heart, and the historical piece Jewells Along the Newell.
Both publications sold out their initial print run.
With the successful release of her new book, Mardie is now thinking of a possible sequel.
“But first I’m going to give myself time to tidy every drawer in the house,” she said.
