If it was up to Councillor Kenny McGrath there would be roundabouts at most of what he regards as Parkes intersection trouble spots.

Locations such as the East/Clarinda Street, Brolgan/Westlime Road and the Grenfell/Bogan Street areas are three that quickly come to mind.
At a recent council meeting the focus centred on the Grenfell/Bogan Street intersection which had been discussed at the previous Traffic Committee meeting.
Cr McGrath urged council to keep `hammering’ the Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) on the issue.
“Traffic coming from the east in Grenfell Street and wanting to turn right into Bogan Street are held up for lengthy delays because of the constant flow of traffic.
“Some truck drivers have described the intersection as a nightmare.
“Why they (RMS) don’t put a roundabout there is beyond me.”
Mayor Ken Keith agreed it was an issue for truck drivers, especially those travelling from Orange and wanting to get to the west of Parkes
“I believe traffic lights would be the better option than a roundabout,” Cr Keith said.
Cr McGrath replied by saying a roundabout would be much cheaper than lights.
“Could we make a request for the RMS to investigate the area in regards to either a roundabout or lights being installed,” he said.
“Go higher if we have to, got to the top and get this intersection attended to sooner rather than later.”
Council resolved to contact the RMS further on the matter.
