Commissioner Scipione and NSW Police Minister and Deputy Premier, Troy Grant were on a tour of the central west and called in to inspect the new Parkes Police Station.
Then Commissioner Scipione said there was another reason for his visit.
“I implemented a special program when I came into office to check on how our officers provide their customer service,” he explained.
“It’s like a secret shopper campaign. Mystery people contact the local police station and engage the officers in a particular situation.
“The officer is then rated on their interaction and subsquent follow-up on that matter.
“I announced that if any officer received 100 per cent I would personally write them a letter of congratulations.
“I have to admit I did not think I would ever run out of ink!”
However, Commissioner Scipione said the results, pleasingly, had been much better than expected.
“I am here today to announce that Senior Constable Johansson has received a 100 per cent rating - not just once, but twice!”
He presented her with a letter of appreciation which stated as follows:
“I write to congratulate you for the outstanding result you achieved during the fourth quarter of the 2014-15 Mystery Shopper series.
“The mystery shopper spoke to you at Parkes Police Station and later recorded in the evaluation report that they were ‘most impressed’ by their customer service experience with you.
“Many officers scored well but you were one of 62 to achieve a perfect score of 100 per cent.
“Establishing effective customer service as a natural part of policing in NSW is one of my priorities and you are helping to lead the way.”
Commissioner Scipione presented the letter to Senior Constable Johansson in the company of fellow officers as well as Mayor Ken Keith and local State MP, Andrew Gee.
