Due to health reasons, Molly himself could not be in town to accept the honour personally, so a very special lady did it on his behalf.
Cynthia Pepper, who starred with Elvis Presley in the 1964 movie Kissin’ Cousins, is this year’s Festival VIP guest and is proving a huge hit with fans.
She graciously stood in for Molly and relayed his message of thanks to the gathered crowd.
“Thank you. I am very honoured by this. And to use the words of one of my favourite songs… If you don’t like the plaque – return to sender! PS Has anyone seen my blue suede shoes?” – Molly Meldrum.
Every year an Australian music industry identity is added to the Elvis Wall of Fame.
Mayor Ken Keith was on hand to make a special presentation to Cynthia to remember her time here in Parkes.
