Parkes Shire councillor Patrica Smith has provided an update on progress of Memorial Hill and the lookout rejuvenation.

“The inaugural meeting of the Memorial Hill and Lookout committee was held earlier this month,” she revealed.
The committe was formed after Cr Smith raised matters relating to the presentation of Memorial Hill.
She suggested cutting back trees to give a clear view of the town; improving walking tracks; providing information on the area’s history; plaques with historical imformation; updating current directional information on the plinth to include Northparkes Mines, Mugincoble,Bushmans Hill,Transport Hub etc.
Mayor Ken Keith nominated Cr Smith asChair of the committe.
The meeting was well attended by representives of Parkes Rotary, Parkes RSL, Landcare, Northparkes Mines, Action Club, Masonic Lodge and theHistorical Society,
Councillors Kenny McGrath and George Pratt, together with Council Director Steve Barry, Parks and Gardens Officer, David Ramsay, and Grants Officer Ellie ODonghue were also present.
“There was a great deal of enthusiam, and many ideas about this community project were offered,” Cr Smith said.
“Previous plans will now be looked over and an updated master plan prepared.”
The next meeting will be held on August 5.
