Held in the Parkes Shire Council's Coventry Room, 52 women – representing most of the 12 branches that make up the Oxley Group – enjoyed lunch prepared by Parkes.
Branches represented included Bogan Gate, Trundle, Tullamore, Tottenham, Parkes, Condobolin, Forbes, Forbes Evening, Kiacatoo and Peak Hill.
Berthong members were unable to make is as they were feeding sheep.
Three women from Bowral attended the conference to present a cheque for $10,000 to the group, whose branches are all in drought declared areas of central New South Wales.
Honorary President of CWA Bowral Branch Helen Kent said her fellow members were thrilled to be able to present the cheque.
“Today on behalf of the CWA Bowral Branch members, Secretary Diana Innes, Publicity Officer Maggie Stewart and I would like to present the CWA Oxley Group with a bank cheque for $10,000,” she said.
“CWA Bowral Branch would like the money to be distributed through CWA Oxley Group Branches to help their communities in need and to support local businesses.”
The donation was part of the funds raised by CWA Bowral Branch members at two events – the sale of Tulip Time raffle tickets for a quilt donated by CWA Coffs Harbour and a Garden Party.
