This year’s big event is on March 30, and Forbes Shire Council last Thursday signed up as the major sponsor, donating $5000.
The camel races draw about 6000 visitors, the majority from outside Forbes.
This year’s event is again shaping up brilliantly, with a seven-race program and live entertainment at the Forbes race course.
Organiser Lee Marsh says the day is jam-packed with family fun once again – gates open 10am with the first race about 11am.
Entry is $10 adults $5 aged pensioner and kids under 16 are free.
Favourite camels and cameleers are planning their travel to Forbes to give us a great display of racing.
Around the track there will be pushbike-powered shearing – step up and try it! - a display of antique tractors and market stalls.
The kids foot races are always popular and the lolly drop is on again.
At this stage, they’re still looking for someone who could provide an animal nursery on the day, please contact them through the Forbes Camel Races Facebook page.
There will be a bar in operation, strictly no BYO on the day.
Red Bend Junior Rugby League will be cooking up plenty of fish, chips and calamari in the canteen, along with steak sandwiches and other options.
Lachlan Dragons will be running the drinks and merchandise stand, while CanAssist volunteers again man the gate.
