Since his return to the Parkes Golf Club, Scott has been in excellent form which saw him win the A grade October monthly medal.
He backed that form up again on Saturday when he shot a very good round of 67 nett to defeat Ian Phipps via a countback.
Phipps would not be very upset despite losing by such a bare margin as his round of 67 nett was a vast improvement on his score the week before.
The pair finished a shot ahead of Andrew Brownlow who had earlier put himself in contention with a strong 68 nett.
Brownlow was followed by a group of players on 71 nett including Wayne Powter, Greg Powter, Tim Lasserre and Ron Hetherington.
Next best was Duncan Constable, Wayne Tucker, Dr David Harwood and Troy Thomson who all scored one over their handicap with 72.
I(n the nearest the pins, Wayne Powter hit a great 3-hybrid into the IdleRite-Tyrepower 1st hole which finished only 176cm away from the flag.
On the Griffins Leading Edge 4th hole, Greg Petersen was closest with a tee shot which came to rest 245cm from the pin.
Inexplicably, John Green returned from micro surgery to finish closest on the Dirt Doctor Landscaping 6th hole after his tee shot finished 361cm from the cup.
Ian Phipps’ good score came down in part to hitting a very good tee shot on the Harvey Norman 11th hole where he putted for birdie from only 58cm.
The easy birdie would have helped kick start Phipps’ back nine.
On the difficult Westlime 15th hole, Robert Cheney hit a very solid shot to only 550cm from the flag.
Being a strong putter, Cheney would have rolled his birdie chance pretty close and secured par.
On the best in two shot holes, the Parkes Readymixed Concrete 9th and PJL Group 18th, there were very differing results for Parkes’ golfers.
Nobody in the field could hit the 9th green in two shots and the prize will jackpot to this Saturday.
In stark contrast, Rob Hey hit his approach into the 18th green to only 58cm to give himself a good birdie to finish.
This Saturday, Parkes Golf Club are hosting an 18 hole stableford sponsored by Court Press.
A number of members will head to Orange this weekend for the annual Duntryleague Open.
Duntryleague are strong supporters of the Parkes Open with local members keen to reciprocate.
