If any player is unable to play it is important to let your coach know ASAP so they can organize possible replacements. For the U/14’s Gaggin Oval used to be Halpins Flat, if you go straight into town then at the roundabout near Bernardis turn right it will be down 2 blocks and on your left.
Thank Yous: The Executive pf P.D.J.C.A. wish to extend their sincere appreciation to team managers for getting teams in all age groups off to a good start to the season last Saturday, especially bearing in mind the new innovations for junior cricket particularly in the U/12 and U/10 age groups.
A special vote of Thanks from both Parkes and Forbes Junior Cricket Associations must go to Mr. Matt Ellis, the Western NSW Development Officer for Cricket NSW. Matt drove all the way from his home base of Dubbo to be in Parkes by 8.00am and then onto Forbes to ensure new sets of stumps and tape measures were on hand to assist in implementing the new strategies to ensure junior players can enjoy their cricket even more.
Representative Cricket: Parkes U/12 rep team score good win over Dubbo White. Parkes U/12 Representative cricket team put in a full team effort at Woodward Oval on Sunday to score a narrow but decisive victory over the Dubbo White U/12 team in round 1 of the Lachlan Cricket Councils Inter-town competition for 2017/18.
SCOREBOARD: Parkes 4/104 in 32 overs (Geordie Duncan 19, Ryan Dunford 18, Harry Jones 17n.o, Maddy Spence 14, Jack Milne 13, Affan Sagri 1/1 off 3 overs, Joshua Townsend 1/3 off 2 overs, Aimee Longhurst 1/9 off 5 overs) defeated Dubbo White 7/98 in 32 overs (Dugald Shepherd 21, Jack Fuller 18, Joden Porter 13, Harry Jones 1/13 off 7 overs, Flynn Thompson 1/6 off 3 overs, Sam Drew 0/6 off 3 overs, Ryan Dunford 1/17 off 6 overs, Jack Milne 1/12 off 4 overs, Maddy Spence 0/18 off 7 overs, Ewan Moody 1/16 off 2 overs) Parkes won by 6 runs.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Parkes received a very solid start to their innings due to responsible batting by openers Jack Milne and Maddy Spence who put on 33 runs in 12 overs for the first wicket. Ryan Dunford and Harry Jones continued to bat sensibly for Parkes with Ryan beginning to play a series of well executed run scoring shots before he edged one to the slips cordon where Dugald Shepherd took a smart catch. Geordie Duncan demonstrated that he is capable of powerful attacking shots as he and Harry Jones boosted the Parkes team score to 4/104 in their allocated 32 overs.
In response the Dubbo White batsmen found runs difficult to score against disciplined line and length bowling from Harry Jones, Maddy Spence, Ryan Dunford and Jack Milne. After 16 overs Dubbo Whites score was 2/37 so it can be seen that plenty of pressure had been exerted by the keen Parkes team.
Flynn Thompson and Samuel Drew entered the bowling attack after the drinks break. Both players excelled themselves as they only conceded 12 runs off 6 overs to maintain the pressure. Eventually smart runouts were executed by Richard Gaut and Maddy Spence to further Parkes quest for victory.
Dubbo’s Jack Fuller hit out boldly at the end of the innings to narrow the margin before Parkes claimed their 6 run victory. Parkes coaches Shane Jones and Phil Dunford were seen with contented grins after the game as they congratulated the Parkes players for their keen efforts to defeat the traditionally strong Dubbo team.
