Parkes trio off to Pacific School Games

Chloe and Tommy’s selection is the result of outstanding performances representing Polding at the NSWPSSA Hockey Carnivals last term.

Both were integral members of their Polding teams with Chloe playing as a striker and Tommy as a mid-fielder.

Tommy has just returned from Perth where he represented NSW at the Under 13 National Hockey Championships.

Tommy and Chloe both play in the Parkes local competition and represent Parkes in the Under 13 representative teams.

Chloe is the daughter of Paul and Monique Carty while Tommy is the son of Matt and Anne-Maree Searl.

Victoria Simpson, is the daughter of Deanne and Garth Simpson, and will be competing in athletics and shot put.

Holy Family Principal Denise Gersbach said the school is proud of the three students.

“To be selected in a NSWPSSA team is an amazing achievement and to have three students from our school attending the Pacific School Games is so exciting,” Ms Gersbach said.

“All three children are dedicated athletes and their selection is a just reward for their efforts in their respective sports.”

Tommy said he is “pumped” to be selected to take part in the Games.

“It’s exciting, I have five or six friends in the team who I’ve met at other state championships.”

An excited Chloe said she is thrilled to be joining some of her Polding teammates at the Games.

She added that while excited about attending she is disappointed that the Games will clash with Holy Family’s Year 6 graduation mass and presentation night.

Victoria Simpson echoed Chloe’s sentiments also having mixed feelings about missing school.

“I’m excited but sad that I’m missing school, but I’m also looking forward to representing Parkes.”

Victoria made history at the (PSSA) National Athletics Carnival where she created two new Australian records in shot put and in discus.

The championships begin with an opening ceremony on December 3.
