After all the excitement of our Birthday Party last month, the October Meeting was relatively quiet.

We had our business meeting, and then heard from those members who attended the VIEW Convention in Tamworth.
There were a total of 550 women at the convention.
Every other year, there is a National Convention, and this year it was during September, and in Tamworth.
The members who were able to attend the event, dressed-up in the convention theme – “Bollywood” – by wearing matching dresses that were ordered and made in India.
There were many comments about the interesting clothing, both at the convention, and during our own October meeting, by the attendees.
We hadn’t planned a guest speaker, which worked out well, since those members who didn’t attend the convention were quizzing the ones that did.
We were even told some of the activities that were part of the three days.
Every month, except in January, between 25 and 50 women get together to have a luncheon (only for good social reasons, of course) and to discuss and plan for ways to raise money to assist in supporting four schoolchildren who are part of the Smith Family “Learning for Life” program.
During the year, we have Trivia Nights and Soups and Sweets Luncheons, among the events that we host.
We have developed a reputation for the yummy food served at these occasions (all homemade, of course), and the fun that the we have (much laughter and giggles).
There is only the November meeting to go before we have our great end-of-year Christmas Party.
We haven’t chosen a theme yet for Christmas, but I really enjoyed the one year where I came dressed up as a Christmas Tree!
Sometimes, there is a Trading Table at the Meeting, where attendees can buy a bargain or two from donated items (lots of yummy homemade slices, amongst other things).
Does this sound interesting and fun?
Please look out for the advert of our next meeting (14th November) in the paper, including the phone number of our Secretary Pamela to book in to join us if these activities sound inviting.
We welcome any woman that wishes to join us – for the companionship during the Meetings, and for assisting during the money-raising activities during the year, like the Trivia Nights.
There is always an advert in the Champion Post to remind us of the day, time, and venue, plus cost of each Meeting, too.
Be a guest, and see if this women’s service group suits you, with both laughter and some seriousness!
