It happened! The Parkes Day VIEW Club was celebrating the September birthdays of eight members, PLUS, the 48th Birthday of the Club!
We were at the Bushman Motel Restaurant for this great event, with about 50 members and guests wishing each other a wonderful day of celebration.
Also, there were three guest Clubs that joined us for the celebration.
We welcomed the Parkes Evening VIEW Club, the Eugowra VIEW Club, and the Wellington VIEW Club.
The theme of our Birthday was “Buttons and Bows”.
I would still be counting all of these items on members and guests, the tables and chairs, the birthday cake, and the room decorations if I had to count them all.
Several of us dressed in Buttons and Bows, and three lucky ladies won the Best of Show for their efforts.
Rhonda Redenbach, Krys Szabo and Sister Flo were the winners, and they looked fabulous!!
We had a Trading Table of many home-cooked yummy foods, plus other items of interest, such as books, handbags, and small china animals.
There was a raffle of some valuable items, too.
All these activities help our Club raise money for the four Smith Family “Learning for Life” school children we sponsor.
One of our members has helped the Club with these types of events for 20 years!
We said a big “thank you” to Krys Szabo for her assistance in planning and running VIEW Club happenings during her time in the Club.
The Club wishes to thank one member for the lovely birthday cake that she made and decorated.
Adrienne Bradley, you are a marvel!
There were only a few crumbs left after we cut and served the cake.
Our President, Vicki Archer, explained to us the song that prompted the theme for the luncheon too.
It all started from a movie, of course.
The song was written for and appeared in the Bob Hope and Jane Russell film, The Paleface, and won the Academy Award for the Best Original Song.
Many singers then recorded the song over the years.
Upcoming happenings for the rest of the year include elections and celebrating Christmas.
Look for the details in the Champion Post for time and place, and contact person.
Every woman is welcome.
