The project is gaining momentum in the lead up to the release of their crowdfunding campaign on Thursday, October 26, at the NSW Landcare and Local Land Services State Conference in Albury.
Angus, the son of Guy Webb, co-founder of Soil C Quest, has used every inch of the enthusiasm of an 11-year-old boy, to bring together a call to action to Elon Musk.
Mr Musk, who is known as one of the world’s most hardworking entrepreneurs, has re-shaped the way we look at space, vehicles, solar energy and transport.
He believes that the switch from fossil fuels to sustainable energy is inevitable and sees the capability for that to happen within the next 20 years.
Mr Musk knows that the alternative – if we don’t address carbon dioxide issues in our atmosphere – will not be one that we can live with.
The Tesla and SpaceX founder has plans to visit Mars by 2031, which sparked Angus’ enthusiasm as he has his own plans to pursue a career as an astronaut when he grows up.
“Climate change is real and it affects everyone on our planet,” Angus said.
“Our planet needs carbon removed from the atmosphere or the future won't be good.”
Angus is proud of his Dad, who is working with the Soil C Quest Team to undertake a series of trials to develop a seed inoculum that will ‘fix’ carbon in the soil by capturing and concentrating atmospheric carbon into plant sugar and in turn, converting some of that carbohydrate flow into fungal melanin.
This stable form of carbon is deposited inside soil microaggregates.
The Soil C Quest Team is made up of volunteers who believe that the project can make a significant contribution to reducing the impact of climate change and contribute their time towards developing the concept.

Angus says “Elon Musk is an amazing man and I reckon he would want to help find out ways for the soil to soak up excess carbon, don’t you?”
Angus Webb has launched a petition to encourage Elon Musk to support Soil C Quest.
