All names of registered players need to be in by 6pm on Friday, September 22 as the selection and grading committee of PDJCA will meet on Monday, September 25 at 7pm at the Star Hotel Parkes to arrange all teams for the 2017/2018 season.
PDJCA has offered for the first time for players to register on-line for the new season. So far (at the time of going to press) the response has been very slow.
This is quite worrying as the executive of PDJCA know there are many players who thoroughly enjoyed playing cricket in recent seasons and there are also many local primary school students who have been introduced to cricket by being involved in highly successful Gala Day’s at North Parkes Oval run by Cricket NSW on Wednesday, September 6 and Wednesday, September 20.
Cricket NSW Development Manager Mr. Matt Ellis has had wonderful assistance from Parkes High School students to conduct these days. Participants all had big smiles on their faces at the conclusion of the Gala Day’s – a sure sign that they had enjoyed a top day.
To register online parents/carers should go to www.playcricket.com.au/club-finder/club-details?id=15270.
Alternatively PDJCA volunteers will be on hand at Woodward Oval from 4pm to 5.30pm today to take registrations for any players who do not wish to register online.
The player registration fees for 2017/2018 are –
- Under 17s - $100.00
- Under 14s - $80.00
- Under 12s - $60.00
- Under 10s - $30.00
- Family Maximum - $200.00
Age as of September 1, 2017 is used to determine age groups.
The co-operation of all players/parents/carers in having completed registration will be greatly appreciated by the hard working volunteers of PDJCA who go to a lot of effort to ensure yet again that junior cricketers in our district can enjoy the wonderful game of cricket.
The 2017/2018 season is scheduled to start on Saturday, October 14.
Representative Cricket
Lachlan Cricket Council will conduct representative cricket competitions to be held on Sunday’s in under 14 and under 12 age divisions with challenge games to be arranged for under 16 players.
Teams from Parkes, Forbes, Dubbo, Cowra, Condobolin, Young and West Wyalong will play in the Lachlan competitions. Managers/coaches/scorers for the Parkes representative teams will be determined at the selection and grading committee meeting on Monday, September 25.
Prospective representative players should watch the PDJCA website or the Parkes District Junior Cricket facebook page to find arrangements for representative trials and training.
The first representative fixtures are scheduled for October 15.
Already keen Lachlan cricketers have been working hard at skills training sessions held at Cowra on Sunday, September 10 and Sunday, September 17.
Lachlan Director of Coaching Mr. Steve Connelly of Young has been impressed by the keen efforts of the young Lachlan cricketers (over 40 at each session) who have participated.
Mr Connelly would like to see any Parkes coaches in attendance at the final Lachlan selection trials at Cowra on Sunday, October 8. Lachlan under 16, under 14 and under 12 will be selected that day.
Congratulations to Ryan Dunford, Hunter Hawke and Maddy Spence - All in Western PSSA cricket teams.
Following selection trials for the Western PSSA (primary school sports association) Boys and Girls Cricket teams for 2017 at Dubbo on Friday, September 8 PDJCA is delighted to advise that three fine young players from local Parkes schools have been selected in Western PSSA teams to compete in State Carnivals later this year.
Ryan Dunford and Hunter Hawke (both of Parkes Public School) gained selection in the Western PSSA Boys team to play in the NSW PSSA 14 team Boys State Carnival at Orange from November 20-23.
Maddy Spence (Middleton Public School) was selected in the Western PSSA Girls team to play in the NSW PSSA 13 team Girls State Carnival at Maitland from October 30 to November 2.
This will be the second consecutive year Maddy has represented Western PSSA in Girls cricket.
Maddy has also gained the honour of being invited to attend the NSW PSSA Talented Player Squad Training Camp at St Gregory’s College, Campbelltown in the forthcoming school holidays.
Ryan, Hunter and Maddy were key members of the Parkes under 12 representative team that played very well in 2016/2017 to be runners up to a very strong Dubbo team in the Lachlan Cricket Council final for 2016/2017.
Ryan and Hunter have been putting in spirited, very talented performances for Parkes Public School in the 2017 NSW PSSA Boys Cricket Knock Out competition.
The Parkes P.S. team is scheduled to play Cudgegong Valley P.S. to determine the Western PSSA Boys Cricket K.O. Champions for 2017. The match will be played early in term four.
Joseph Tanswell is another member of the Parkes P.S. team to have been performing very well in the 2017 K.O. Joseph narrowly missed selection in the Western PSSA Boys team.
