I commend Tony Lawler's excellent letter (which ran in the Parkes Champion Post on the opinion page on Friday, September 15) to your readers and I hope they will take the opportunity to say yes to the question in the survey, helping to end the discrimination against people who are born just a little bit different from ourselves.

Dear Editor
Marriage is the sexual union of male and female by which new life is created.
Is it biologically possible for same sex couples?
There is the answer for your vote.

Whether You’re Voting “Yes” or “No” the Law Must Protect Your Freedom of Speech
Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party MLC Robert Borsak on Wednesday gave notice that he will introduce the Anti-Discrimination and Education Legislation Amendment (Protection of religious and moral beliefs and convictions) Bill 2017 in the Parliament of New South Wales.
“I don't care whether you are voting ‘yes’ or ‘no’ in the same-sex marriage postal survey: anti-discrimination legislation must protect your freedom to hold your own view,” Mr Borsak said.
“Parents should have the freedom to educate their children on moral issues how they see fit - without Government interference.”
Mr Borsak’s bill will amend the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and the Education Act 1990 to protect freedom of speech with respect to the same-sex marriage debate.
“The Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party has no policy on the same-sex marriage debate, except to protect people's freedom to hold their own view and express it without fear of persecution,” he said.
“You don’t have to be voting a certain way in the postal survey to have shooting, fishing, farming or enjoying outdoor recreation as a part of your life.
“I can’t believe that nobody else is taking the leadership on this issue.
“After hearing people on both sides of the same-sex marriage debate being vilified or discriminated against, I believe that enough is enough. It’s time somebody stepped-in to protect people’s freedom of speech.
“I call on Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Nationals Leader John Barilaro to support me on this bill.”
Mr Borsak’s bill is due for debate in the coming weeks, contingent on support from the New South Wales Government.
