From humble beginnings using hired and borrowed equipment, Pop has built up a sizeable fleet of machinery.
After months of preparation, locals will have their chance to purchase unused and pre-loved gear from Pop’s collection as auctioneers, Hassalls, host a huge clearance sale on Saturday, September 23 from 10am.
Pop said he would like to thank everyone for their help during his years in business.
“I very much appreciate the help and the service the businesses in Parkes have given me over they years,” he said.
“Barb and I feel it’s time to slow down and enjoy our time together.”
More than 450 lots of a vast range of equipment are offered for auction, mostly unreserved and selling for a fraction of the new price.
The auction will feature highly sought after agricultural and irrigation equipment with a strong range of Mack Trucks as well as a unique Dodge Truck and some fascinating collectable items including a circa 1926 Timber Wool Press and c1935 Vertical Engine.
Also included is a huge range of workshop equipment, construction materials, tractors, excavators, a large number of shipping containers plus much more.
Hassalls General Manager Steve Wall said he expects collectors, farmers, small business owners and tradespeople to turn out on the day at the onsite auctions to grab everything from nuts and bolts all the way to large trucks and everything in between.
“With challenging farming conditions the area and surrounding suburbs have endured, local business owners need as much help as they can get,” Mr Wall said.
“The auction is a great way to snap up vital pieces of equipment including water irrigation assets and equipment like water pumps and earthmoving equipment at auction prices that will help increase their capabilities.
Mr Wall, who is overseeing the auction, highlighted the top three groups of equipment available that buyers will be scrambling to bid on.
1. Mack Trucks / Dodge Truck
“This sale has a very unique collection of Mack Superliners and R model trucks that are now a sought after collectors truck. Pop has some very interesting examples of these models from an ultra-heavy haul version to a very unique 1978 Dodge 700 Truck with a Fuller Transmission and Detroit V653 engine 2-stroke supercharged engine,” Mr Wall said.
2. Cat Grader
“This Cat 16H is one of the better 16H’s we have had to sell in recent times and looks to be ready to go straight to work,” Mr Wall said.
3. Workshop equipment
“There’s a huge range of equipment, which includes steel workbenches, toolboxes, electrical tools, hand tools, nuts and bolts and more. Perfect for local tradespeople who are always looking to upgrade and replace their equipment,” Mr Wall said.
