Overnight snowfalls across the Bathurst region

HIGH country areas across the Bathurst region awoke to a white-out this morning following overnight snowfalls.

The Western Advocate had already received reports of snow in Oberon, Black Springs and Sunny Corner at 6.30am this morning as another wintry blast passed through the region.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a top temperature of just 11 degrees around Bathurst today, and a maximum of 14 degrees in Parkes.

Oberon is expecting a top of just 7 degrees today.

Forecasts for the weekend in Parkes are expected to be frosty – with temperatures dropping to a minimum of 2 on Saturday, -3 Sunday and -2 Monday.

It’s a big drop from balmy conditions in Parkes during the week, with thermometers reaching between 18 and 27 degrees.

Tuesday, at 27.1 degrees, has been our hottest day this week, despite beginning the day at four degrees.

But Wednesday takes the cake for being consistently warm all day.

The day began with a minimum of 14 degrees, exceeding every other minimum temperature so far since Sunday by more than nine degrees.

Wednesday reached a top of 23 degrees.
