Girls Junior League Tag: Kicxstart Motorcycles and Power Equipment Junior League taggers played in the grand final qualifier on Saturday against Cabonne.

Parkes working tirelessly in defence.
Cabonne finally broke through grabbing the first points of the day.
This was the start of a never-ending barrage of attack from Cabonne.
Lily Heraghty made smart metres from Dummy Half and Grace Milne’s defence was spot on.
Nell Smith and Sharla Parker Lee were trying hard in the middle tagging well.
Jorja Simpson darted out from dummy half and possibly scored her easiest try for the year, to secure Parkes first points.
Cheyenne Kelly converted resulting in Parkes being down six to Cabonne 14 at halftime.
Parkes stepped up their game in the second half with Cheyenne Kelly stepping her way over the line, helped by Charley Jones and Bronte Thompson.
Conversion was unsuccessful, Parkes were still trailing 10-14.
Josie Heraghty and Ellie Toohey made the tags out wide that had to be made all game.
Jazz Terrill made some great runs and Erin Fernando was unlucky not to break the line with her awesome step.
Izabella Terrill made solid meters running the ball up hard.
Cabonne got lucky from a kick return scoring a great try.
Time seemed to be running with only having 13 minutes on the clock when luck changed.
Jorja Simpson got a great ball from Bronte Thompson.
Bronte Thompson converted leaving the girls four points down.
With only four mins left on the clock Jorja Simpson took off in desperation looking for any opportunity.
She found Cabonne defence open up with nothing between her and the try line.
Parkes were back.
Scores locked at 20-20 and a kick to come.
Captain Lily Heraghty showed what a great leader she is by offering to take the kick to put Parkes in the lead.
She showed composure and confidence nailing it right between the posts.
Parkes 22 to Cabonne 20 with two minutes left on the clock.
Cabonne tried but found Parkes defence was solid and knocked the ball on.
With only seconds left Parkes ran home winners.
Good luck girls in your Grand Final.
Parkes will take on West Wyalong this Saturday.
Senior League Tag Girls:
Parkes Services and Parkes Spaceman Senior League Tag girls will play West Wyalong in the Grand final on Saturday at Condobolin.
Under 14s: Sportspower under 14s fought hard last Saturday but were beaten by West Wyalong.
It started with a West Wyalong kick followed by strong hard runs from Parkes leading to a change over.
Defence fought back with solid tackles from Dustin Ticehurst, Maia Hanega, Finnley Neilsen, Tyson Richardson and Kane Slavin with the support of Austin MacGregor and Col Rauchle down the sideline.
Toby Miller gained possession for Parkes.
A penalty gave Parkes six again and Finnley Neilsen opened the scoring for the game.
Michael Riley converted and Parkes were on the board six nil.
Parkes lost ball in the tackle gave West Wyalong possession.
Three penalties against Parkes put West Wyalong on the try line but an intercept by Austin MacGregor had everyone cheering as Parkes drove the ball forward.
The kick was successfully caught by West Wyalong as they started their attack.
Unfortunately more penalties resulted in a West Wyalong try and successful conversion evening the score.
With only two and a half minutes left in first half, another two penalties were given away and West Wyalong were over to even the score at half-time.
As both teams returned to the field you could see they were hungry for points.
Dustin Ticehurst determination to score was evident as he ran with players falling off him.
He was nearly over when West Wyalong finally brought him down.
Tyson Richardson looked for a gap to score unfortunately conversion was unsuccessful.
West Wyalong kick was successfully retrieved by Parkes and quick play saw Parkes gain ground Tyson Richardson took off to the corner jumping over the defence line to score.
Another missed conversion from a difficult point of the field meant Parkes had the lead 20-12.
Next set saw Bailey Bowd, Kade Crisp, Ben Cooper, Jai Thompson, Zayne Ehsman and Toby Miller work hard in defence.
Unfortunately West Wyalong soon scored and converted closing the gap.
Wilson Duffy took the kick and running the ball up for the next set of plays.
A lost ball gave West Wyalong possession.
A break away player was stopped by Toby Miller and hand over to Parkes saw the boys drive quickly followed by a kick and chase which saw Austin MacGregor over but unfortunately an offside ruling saw the points disallowed.
West Wyalong scoring in the last five minutes.
Parkes worked hard but it wasn’t to be.
West Wyalong won 24–20.
Women’s Bowling
In the three games played all games had one point difference in the scores.
In a Triples game, Frances Charlton, Margaret Hawken, Gwenda Carty def Flo Riseborough, Valmai Westcott, Audrey Jones 19-18.
Chris Curteis, Marja Iffland, Joan Simpson def Di Greenhalgh, Hilda McPherson, Betsy Johnstone 15-14.
In a Pairs game Kate Keogh, Rosemary Mitchell def Merilyn Rodgers, Minnie Riordan 17-16.
Windy conditions challenged us all.
Winners for the day were Frances, Margaret, Gwenda.
The First Round of Club Fours start next week, players please be ready to start promptly.
A Trading Table will be held next week.
The Jones Shield will be played at Condobolin September 28.
We will be playing Grades 3 and 4 in Pennants next year, please put your name on board to play.

Sporting Clays
Last months shoot had eight shooters attended the complex.
Shot in a 80 target day with two events.
Event 1: 60 targets using six auto clay throwers set at various angles and speeds. Brian Drabsch 52, Jimmy Day 52, Bernie Cusack 48, David Penberthy 45, David Tanks and Brett Dean 42 each, Troy Gosper and Clinton Duffy 39 each.
Event 2: 20 targets twin rise. Brian Drabsch 19, Clinton Duffy 17, Jimmy Day and Brett Dean 15 each. David Tanks, Bernie Cusack and David Penberthy 14 each, Troy Gosper 13.
With a very strong south westerly blowing, some of the targets stopped in midair and moved backwards with the wind.
Next shoot: Saturday, September 16, 1pm. Will be similar to the above.
SSAA Smallbore
Last weekend we saw nine shooters attend the complex. Shooting at ordinary targets at both 35 and 50 meters for a maximum of 500 points.

Parkes Gun Club
September 9 the club held three continental events and were very pleased to welcome good numbers of competitors once again.
These included the increased number of local members plus entrants from West Wyalong, Canowindra, Cowra and Forbes.
Some of these were top line shooters using these events as a last practice before the State team eliminations at Wagga next week.
Of the three events two were won outrights by Clive Foster from West Wyalong and the other by Clint Hawke who is getting back into top form.
Quite a few locals shot very well to take out graded prizes during the day, they were G. Breadon, Dave Wilson, Alan Miles, S. Burns, D. Vimpant, B. Dent and Clint Hawke also maintained his good scoring all day to take out the High Gun Award.
Our October shoot will be our most important yearly open shoot where both the Parkes Gun Club double barrel championship and the club single barrel will both be contested.
A large attendance from other clubs regularly turn up for these events.

Sunday, September 10 the Parkes Services Social Golfers played a Stableford event for the Ron Murray andRichard Wells Trophies and Raffle supplied by Tom Delmenico.
Winners on the day were the team of Sue Smith and Rodney Luyt with an incredible score of 51 points.
Runner ups were the team of Ray Cabban and Len Archer on a C/B from Dawn Phipps and Brian Hogan with 46 points.
