Parkes Toastmaster Mike Richardson finished a very close second in a speech contest at St Marys recently. The best speakers from all the clubs in the district competed in the contest.

Three long serving Telstra employees are farewelled. Len Thompson 29 years in the Parkes district, Barry Kennedy of Forbes 29 years, Bob Davidson of Eugowra 20 years.

Craig Ross returns to 2PK as Programme Director replacing Dianne Coveney who has gone to Taree.

The Central West Group Apprentice Ltd is a public company which offers trades people the benefit of leasing an apprentice for any length of time up to the full term of the apprenticeship. The scheme started in 1980 and has grown from over 22 apprentices in 1982 to over 600 at the present time. An average yearly intake of 120 first year apprentices covering over 40 trades and approximately 100 graduating annually as qualified trades people.

Colts grade coaches for the Parkes Rugby Union Club for 2007 are: 1st Grade Tini Latu assisted by Trevor Whittaker Luke Day as the Team Manager . Reserve Grade Geoff RIce and Jason Duffy with Robert Barber as the team manager.

Captains at Peak Hill Central School Primary are Georgia Sharkey and Bradley Edwards captains, Bradley Hart and Natasha Cook vice captains. Shannon Hando, Nicole Edwards, Sarah Brendall and Rachel Heywood are the secondary captains.

Parkes Council has an ongoing battle against vandalism. Irrigation systems within the town's parks suffer thousands of dollars of damage. Broken and vandalised sprinklers have to be fixed or replaced. All 21 sprinklers serving the surrounds of the skate park, while 16 plants and shrubs were pulled out along with an irrigation hose in an attack on Cooke Park. Sprinklers had to be replaced at Kelly Reserve. The special Liberty Swing for disabled people has been replaced.
