Though it was a solid performance from all of City’s squad that led to the victory, Bec Bosianek’s contribution in the first half was a special one.

She made the initial break which led to City’s opening goal and scored two herself as she adhered to an edict drummed into her by coach Lisa Quinn.

“I think we just stepped up after they scored, Lisa always hammers into us no lapses, no lapses, no lapses. We stepped up and we did it,” Bosianek said.

“It was do or die, you’ve always got to be there for support. It’s do not give up until the ball is over that line.”

Bosianek’s second goal was especially impressive as she sprinted to be in position to support her team-mates. When Quinn’s shot struck the post, she was there to put away the rebound.

It was one of a bagful of goals she scored for the season – one she played with a problem knee.

“I injured my knee at the start of the season and I just had to keep working and working on it because I am due for a reconstruction straight after this season,” she said.

“My goal was to get to the grand final and I’m here and we won. It’s a massive win and a huge achievement for us girls. We work hard, we play for each other.”
