The well attended meeting reflects the keen interest of players and supporters of senior cricket in Parkes.
The meeting saw a changing of the guard in election to the key leadership role of President as the outgoing President in Peter Yelland who has given absolutely outstanding service in this role over the past eight years handed the baton to Scott Knights.
Scott Knights is sure to prove an effective and constructive leader.
Already a highly respected and capable representative cricketer, Scott is no stranger to the leadership role having proven himself to be an exemplary school captain at Parkes East Public School in his younger years whilst in recent years have been Scott demonstrate splendid qualities as a captain of the Reedy Creek Cricket Club.
The election of office bearers for 2017/18 was chaired by charismatic Parkes sporting identity Mr Michael Greenwood.
Mr Greenwood kept an attentive audience on their toes as he reeled off his customary one liners to demonstrate why attendance at the AGM is a rare treat for all involved.
The following personnel were elected to be office bearers of Parkes District Cricket Association for 2017/18:
Patrons - Bob Aitken, John Davies, Michael Greenwood, Greg Morrissey and Warwick Wheeldon.
President - Scott Knights.
Vic President - Peter Yelland.
Treasurer - Paul Dunford.
Secretary - Luke Nash.
Publicity Officer - Greg Morrissey.
Sports Council Delegates - Luke Nash & Dan Gordon.
Lachlan Cricket Council Delegates - Greg Morrissey & Scott Knights.
Parkes Junior Cricket Delegate - Zac Bayliss.
Umpires Coordinator - Trevor Chapman.
Auditor - Pam Dunford.
Registrars - Luke Nash & Brent Tucker.
Statistics - Greg Morrissey.
Judiciary - Greg Duffy, Michael Greenwood & Peter Yelland.
Representative Selectors - Myles Smith, Blake Smith & Anthony Heraghty.
Game Day Manager - Zac Bayliss & Nathan Gaidzionis.
Risk Management Officer - Greg Morrissey.
The format for Saturday afternoon cricket will be determined following the September meeting set down for Monday, September 4.
It was agreed that if Lachlan Cricket Council can arrange an inter-town competition featuring two team from Parkes, two teams from Cowra and a team from Forbes than this is the most appropriate option to cater for representative players and up and coming junior players.
Lachlan Cricket Council will conduct a pre-season planning meeting at Forbes on August 27 to discuss this competition.
Secretary of Lachlan Cricket Council, Greg Morrissey advised the meeting that following the AGM of Western Zone Cricket that the Western Premier League Competition will be reinstated this season.
This competition will involve the following towns; Bathurst, Cowra, Dubbo, Orange and Parkes.
Playing dates for this competition are;
Round 1 – October 7.
Round 2 – October 8.
Round 3 – October 22.
Round 4 – December 3.
Round 5 – January 14.
Final – January 28.
