The Red Cross is a highly respected charity, adhering to the seven principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.
Money raised is directed to programs that support vulnerable people in Australia and overseas.
This means that around 73c in every dollar raised is directed towards delivering services and programs.
Parkes Red Cross is at present raising awareness as to their work in Australia and around the World.
Every Friday our tea rooms are open for refreshments.
Support has been strong in 2017 and many happy customers make this venue a special weekly occasion, enjoying fresh sandwiches and delicious cakes, scones and slices, served with tea and coffee.
Helpers on Friday are very welcome to join our team.
Looking ahead and planning for the future, there are many areas in which the support can contribute to our local branch of the Red Cross.
At present the group is conducting an “old books” drive to establish a bank of preloved books, reference, fiction, nonfiction, children's books, and magazines as a means of raising money.
They are accepting pre loved, but no longer needed ornaments, bowls, attractive cups saucer and plate sets, vases and knick-knacks in good condition..
Included also are used but clean children's toys and not wanted presents.
The Red Cross Rooms are looking forward to becoming a breastfeeding friendly venue, where mothers, fathers and babies are welcome.
Any contributions would be eagerly accepted at the Red Cross Rooms on Friday from 10am-3.30pm. For collection please ring Alison on 0427 625 791 or Norma 0409 621 451.
