Shirley Edwards, Oxley Group Secretary, prepared this report:
The Oxley Group bus trip was organised by Gwen Campbell of Tottenham branch.
Our bus driver was from Jack James coach lines Trangie.
Only eight Oxley members travelled in the bus, three went by car.
Far Western Group ladies joined us on the bus, bringing the total to 15.
We had very comfortable accommodation the Chittaway Motel.
The conference was held at the Mingara recreational Club Tumbi Umbi, it was a good venue with all activities held under the same roof.
The Oxley Group representative and cooking committee members arrived on the Friday as they had meetings on Saturday.
The cooking committee took entries for the competition on the Sunday.
On Monday morning volunteers joined us and acted as stewards under the guidance of a committee member. Lunch was provided for all judges, stewards and volunteers.
Oxley Group winners:
Boiled Fruit Cake: 1st Prize, Shirley Edwards Tullamore Branch.
Sultana cake: 3rd Prize, Shirley Edwards Tullamore Branch.
Coffee Cake: 3rd Prize, Patrisha Hurley Myamley Branch.
Chewy Anzac Biscuits: 1st Prize, Isabella Brown Bedgerabong Branch (junior section).
To get to this level the person has to come first at branch and group levels, and then on to state level.
From the business session:
The tea rooms at the Royal Show report was given by Barbara Reichart.
They have a double oven in which they cook pies and scones: a machine that washes and dries.
Volunteers this year totalled 435 CWA members and 110 non/members.
They sold 1200 jars of jams and pickles, as well as fruit cakes and date loaves.
Manildra flour mill donated two tonnes of flour.
The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW receives 25 per cent of the proceeds.
The next State Conference will be held at Armidale at the New England Girls School from April 30 to May 5, 2018.
